I think there might have been a maggot on my bed?
there was a very small larvae that was yellow/orange smaller than a maggot. It had scales on it. I hope it was a fruit fly larvae. It was too small for either of my cats to see, i wanted one of them to kill it. but why would it be on my bed?
Now i’m starting to think it was a maggot because i had maggots twice this month in my kitchen and i don’t know where they’re coming from except the garbage can, but i don’t put much food in there. i’m not sleeping in that room anytime soon.
My daughter found one on her bed this week and we identified it from an article on forensic science in the current Australian Geographic magazine, Apparently they crawl from 3 to 17 metres away from a decaying body. I suspect we have a dead bird or possum either in or on our roof. From there it must have dropped through a light fitting. As for fruit fly, school bags are a common source of fruit fly larvae, especially over the holidays if the blue furry mold doesn’t get there first.
